SPRING 2024

TheAvenue is a community center situated in North Miami Beach, directly on Collins Avenue. The project is situated diagonally on its’ site to create the most expansive front facade possible. The project is composed of two separate buildings, connected by a large second-story breezeway that wraps around the building and links them. This breezeway houses a second-story garden, connecting to the gardens below to create a seamless visual experience. Both this breezeway and the pathways below create a new “Avenue” of sorts, connecting all the buildings different functions in an outdoor common space. TheAvenue brings both essential and recreational options to the community. Paying homage to the sites past, TheAvenue also provides a vastly improved skate park, allowing for many of the site's previous patrons to return and continue to explore their skating talents at the center. Community members of all ages can interact with and enjoy the spaces this project creates.
